Specification of stream disturbing members (Input Table)

Table description:

Through input data table DISMEM the location and diameter of nearby stream disturbing members, e.g. of a jacket, are specified.

Due to the proximity of (large diameter) jacket members the free stream velocity is disturbed and will increase according to the following formula:

v = U [1 + (r/L)2]

= increased water velocity for use in Morison's equation

= free stream velocity

= radius of (jacket) member

= distance from centre of pipeline element to member, perpendicular to member axis

If the point of intersection of the perpendicular from centre of element and the member axis falls outside the member length specified by start and end point of member, then the member is considered to have no influence on the free stream velocity at that element (v = U).

If there are several members, the influences are cumulated.
