Welcome to a new dimension of specifying soil mechanics
The Soil Model Wizard is an add-on module for Ple4Win that simplifies the obtainment of soil mechanical values through basic soil properties.
The soil tables in Ple4Win (Design Function 3.2) need to be filled with soil mechanical values. Obtaining these values is often problematic. Little is known and you might be glad just having information about the different soil types and layers. The Soil Model Wizard makes it easy to derive soil mechanical values from the information of the soil.
Working with the Soil Model Wizard
The basics about the user interface are described under User Interface. The Soil Model Wizard guides the user through five different steps in order to generate the soil mechanical values. These steps are described as a basic working procedure in the How to Use the Soil Model Wizard topic.
The Wizard only uses IDENTS for localisation. Having parameter changes, such as (step) changes in G-LEVEL, W-LEVEL, diameter and more at positions without an ident assigned, the soil wizard will not correctly recognise these changes.
Methods and standards used in the Soil Model Wizard
Calculation of soil mechanical values is based on formulae from the Dutch Institute of Normalization as given in NEN3650. More information about the methods used in the Soil Model Wizard can be found under Calculation methods.
Some default soil types are predefined within the Soil Model Wizard. These soil types and (most of) their properties are specified based on NEN6740.
